Is there a more popular place for discussing them? I'm trying to catch a destructive squirrel with mine. But I really need a better zoom. This digital zoom loses so much clarity that I can barely see a blur. Camcorders usually have good optical zoom lens. Hmm, nice idea. I have a good Canon MV750i. Now what do I need to hook it up? If the cam has an analog output (for connecting to a tv or vcr), then you would use an analog video capture card/device. If it only has firewire output, then you would need to use a second party software like webcamdv to make the video available to most webcam programs (some webca programs do support the firewire capture format). Should have mentioned that I was using webcamdv with firewire, I just assumed everyone knew that you would have to use that :-) Since my last post I have tried the svhs output into my capture card. Worked fine except for the same problem of the batt level, etc being in the image..and of course the cam turning itelf off after a few minutes. Made a mistake in the zoom factor of the MV150i....max optical is 16x. 32x is the 'default' digital zoom, although a simple menu change increases this to 320x...useless really. 32x is probably the limit for quality using digital zoom. |

Leaving the tape door open on the cam often pevents the cam timeout. |

There's a small program called DVdriver that lets you use the video
with Netmeeting, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, etc. It fools these programs into thinking that the camcorder is just a USB webcam. You can download it at www.trackercam.com/download |

Dylan, How did you attach the 200mm lens to your toucam webcam? look at www.knighttrain.freeserve.co.uk/lens.htm you need a webcam to telescope adaptor 1.25" fitting, modified rear lens cap (drill 32mm hole) and an additional adaptor attached to the lens cap.
