Creative uses for CD/DVD coasters?
Does anyone have any creative uses for CD/DVD coasters that result
from bad burns, or free AOL/Earthlink/PeopleSoft, etc CDs? I did read that the shiny reflective underside scares any birds (or pigeons) because they are scared of their own reflections. What do you do? I hope you don't just throw them in the garbage. === "You're so ambitious, aren't you?...You know what you look like to me, with your good bag and your cheap shoes? You look like a rube. A well-scrubbed, hustling rube with a little taste....Good nutrition has given you some length of bone, but you're not more than one generation from poor white trash, are you?" -- Dr Hannibal Lecter, Silence of the Lambs (1991) |

Tad impractical with my very large trees anyway. What do you do? Throw them in the garbage. I hope you don't just throw them in the garbage. More fool you. |

they would make a cool mobile or wall covering, but you'd have to
collect a lot of them. AOL must have sent me 100 or so. A woman can keep one in her purse for a mirror that doesn't show your age. Remember the 331/3 records that they melted and shaped into bowls in the 70s? you could put them into your oven, ruin your oven, and then get a brand new oven. CDs are very useful. My mom had a mirror-finished pot on her patio that a bluejay persisted in attacking for weeks. What do you do? I hope you don't just throw them in the garbage. I've tossed some up into the liquidambar tree as Xmas decorations. I've also tied a couple to the back of my bicycle as reflectors. The rest go into the recycling bin. Their problem now. -- Cheers, Bev ================================================== =============== "The federal government has taken too much tax money from the people, too much authority from the states, and too much liberty with the Constitution." -- Ronald Reagan |

They are said to repel birds when hung in trees, free to spin about. There is a Japanese kit (from Gakken) to build a Berliner phonograph - the first disc recording device. I haven't put mine together yet, but am told that it will write to and play back from a CD. They also have a reproduction Edison cylinder machine, but that obviously does not work with discs, CD or otherwise. Mike -- http://www.mrichter.com/ |

The pidgeons particularly dislike the "Yanni at the Acropolis" CDs,,,,,,,,, it scares them away every time. Dental patients too. Joel What do you do? How about cracking the outside circumference to form a dangerous jagged edge, then whip them at SMH's juggler vein. I'm sure he'd appreciate being put out of his misery very much. |
