Default cdrs made in japan

are these still the best bet?
the fugi and tdk that have been on sale lately are made in taiwan unfortunetly.
now that i have a much better stereo system in my car i want to rerecord my mix
cds.
Am I going to hear a difference recording on more expensive cdrs?

Surprisingly, perhaps not. I had that preconception until I purchased
a 50-pack Verbatim DataLifePlus and it's labeled as made in Singapore.
However, since much of the media sold are oem, it's difficult to
determine which 'non-Japan' media would be good quality media.

That said, for my music CD's I use cheap media. My logic is that
since I leave them in the car and they get handled, it's a good chance
that they are going to get damaged. I keep a master "data" CD-R in my
archives so I can re-burn them when that happens. Those "data"
CD-R are on high quality media.

good luck!

You won't hear any difference, but the good stuff will last longer and show
better compatibility across a range of players.

You shouldn't hear a difference in the sound. However, if my own experience
is any indication, if the CD-Rs are made by Taiyo-Yuden in Japan, they
should hold up much better in the long run, with fewer read errors.
