I don't see how any s/w configuration problem could damage a drive; save
for running it way to much like using MS Fast-Find on a system that's always on; or perhaps a little too much time spent running EAC in Paranoid Mode... g Tim K "JD Ross" wrote in message ... It's strange....I've been using Easy CD Creator 6
for some time and did not have my pc dying on me...;-) Though one Plextor CDRecorder died.. May be in your case that was the configuration problem, rather than Roxio? Not just in my case, but thousands of other version 6 users out there. Have you read any support forums on Roxios site or any other support site? Filled with complaints and issues that just cant be resolved. I do support for this stuff and know the issues that people have. There are some people that dont have any issues at all like with any software, but when Roxio has issues, it either causes fatal exception errors, makes a partition and than deletes it which causes severe windows problems, sometimes it writes to the boot sector and causes more windows issues, when it does install, the program will crash or eat up all available system resources, and just random problems with any of the 6 programs it comes with. I have been using Roxio for over three years and have had absolutely no trouble with it, or caused by it. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? For one, not using Nero, hehe. But seriously, its good to hear atleast a few people can get it to work. Also, our company is no longer going to be shipping our drives with Roxio ever again, we did it years ago with Roxio 5.01.1.04, had problems either with the software and with trying to get support from Roxio for all the issues which they have never returned our calls or emailed us back, and again with our new dvd drives. The new 8x8 dvd burner coming out in the next few months will be bundled with Nero 6, which I hear is very reliable and stable. |

The Plextor CD Drive, nevertheless died under the Easy CD Creator configuration...;-) Repaired by Plextor...and shortly after Plextor switched from Roxio to Nero 5. Do yerself a favor. Avoid this junque like the plague. Hell, you could burn better CDs yourself with a needle, a cigarette lighter, and a magnifying glass. ------------------------------------------------------ Allen Tyler wrote: SpongeHead wrote: How many computers have died or lost everything after installing Roxio 6? Obviously, they must not. Why else cRoxio needed cd's from Joe Pyles? Joe reported the issue. So he did. Did that prevent cRoxio from "trying" to burn one? Joe knew how to reproduce it. But cRoxio did not know how to reproduce it? Can't believe this. You just confirmed that cRoxio did not know how. Joe was the one known to have the problem, Sam Hong has reposted it enough. The bug was present in the November Beta. Imagine both in-house and beta testings did not report the bug in all that time! Yet it took Joe Pyles [and "coaster"] only a few days to find the bug. What a ****ty in-house testing. What a ****ty beta testing. Again, did that prevent cRoxio from "trying" to burn one? Did my re-postings prevent cRoxio from "trying" to burn one? I requested Joe supply some of his discs known to have the issue for testing. Again, can't believe this. cRoxio could not burn one! After testing with Joe's discs we reproduced the issue internally on discs of our own Able to reproduce only "after"! You confirmed yet again that cRoxio was unable to reproduce -- how to burn Mode 1 -- the bug "before"! ================================================== ============ |

This NG is full of unresolved problems for every brand of burning s/w,
Mr. Squarepants. Indeed; people go to public help forums for little other than problem resolution, therefore praise is rare. The more widely distributed a product is the more problems are likely to be documented. Tim K "SpongeHead" wrote in message om...
