Default Is Buffer Underrun Protection good?

If Buffer Underrun Protection kicks in, does it do anything to the data on
the CD? Or does the CD (or DVD for that matter) come out exactly as if the
Protection never kicked in? For example if you're copying a protected game
CD to make a backup of it (since I don't want to loose the CD to accidental
scratches), and the Protection kicks in, will it affect the copy or does it
make no difference?

Thanks,
Harry

There is a microscopic difference where the burns stops/starts however
no drive will detect these (they are dismissed as the minor
imperfections all burns have).

As for copy protections I have never yet seen any evidence that disks
where burn proof has kicked in cause any problems at all. A friend uses
a really crappy old K6-3 machine with 64Mb of RAM and burn-proof is
kicking in almost every 10 seconds and he hasnt had any problems with
copy protections.
