Last Question on FX5700 before I buy it please.
Ok up until 30minutes ago I was prepared to buy a Gainward Geforce FX5700
Ultra 128mb. I notice that Gainward suggest a PSU of 300w. I just opened up my case to check my PSU and also that I have space for this rather large card. Space isn't a problem however my PSU shows no model name, number, power rating, nothing. I bought this PC early 2002 from Simply Computers. Athlon XP1600+ Geforce2 Ti 64mb 2 sticks of 256mb pc2100 RAM 40gb HD Creative Live 5.1 soundcard DVD Rom CD-RW External USB port with its own mains power supply MSI KT7 6380 Pro2 Motherboard Win XP Home At the mo everything runs fine, no probs whatsoever. I know the FX5700 needs its own power supply. Will I have power problems when I put this new card in to replace the g2 Ti? Anyone know the watts this card uses? Many many thanks Mike |

Ok thanks. I checked all over but nothing. Lets say its 300w.
Will that be enough? Thanks "NDF" wrote in message ... "Mike Spezzano" wrote in message ... Ok up until 30minutes ago I was prepared to buy a Gainward Geforce FX5700 Ultra 128mb. Very unusual for a PSU not to have it's specs printed on it. 300W should be enough, but if you encounter problems then you will now either way. How much you paying for the FX5700 ? |

Why get the 5700. I read that you can get the more powerful 5900 (either XT
version) or regular 5900 for only $30.00 more or so. "Mike Spezzano" wrote in message ... Ok up until 30minutes ago I was prepared to buy a Gainward Geforce FX5700 Ultra 128mb. Yes get a Gigabyte FX2900XT great card.. Isn't that the cheesy one that's the same as the SE version --- 700MHz memory instead of 850MHz for the regular FX5900 non-Ultra ? Newegg had the eVGA FX5900/128 400GPU/850Mem on sale today 01/06/04 for one day @$220, free Fedex shipping. I tried to post this info to the NG, but my stupid ISPs server apparently failed to upload any of my postings. John Lewis "Mike Spezzano" wrote in message ... Uh... no. You could have a 180watt POS PSU installed... actually, it
would be an ILLEAGAL PSU without a label on it. It means its a POS if they don't label it. Don't buy any more PC stuff from that store - if they're willing to sell ****, they themselves are ****. PSU failure can mean dead PSU as well as possiblity of blowing up the system and new video card. Buy a $35 - 300watt PSU from Enlight or a $50~70 PSU from Antec, Enermax, Fortron, thermaltake... Thanks. But don't think it is. SImply usually use decent components. Its
probably labelled on the side I can't get too and I can't be arsed to pull it out. I'm gonna take a gamble and buy the card anyway and see. From looking at magazines from around 2002 it seems simply were fitting 300w psus in their systems so I should be ok. Thanks anyway "Darthy" wrote in message ... Uh... no. John Lewis Yes similar has a nice blue led in the fan and the Ram heat sinks are under the fan cover almost the same card.. But I type the wrong number its a FX5900XT.. But the review on the eVGA only got 5200 3Dmarks and I get 5402, but the reviews seem to think that the eVGA can over clock better than what I can get.. Sorry, the review was a comparison between the eVGA SE version and the Gigabyte XT. The board advertised on Newegg for $220 was the genuine non-crippled, non-XT,non-SE version with 850MHz memory. I have one of them which I bought last August. Works like a champ. The XT/SE not only have cheesy performance, they also have flimsier heat-sinks. John Lewis Here is one of the reviews.. http://www.tech-report.com/reviews/2...t/index.x?pg=1 "Mike Spezzano" wrote in message ...
