Default Icons gone!

Hi, icons have been disapearing from my system tray. It started one
day (i don't know why) that I turned my laptop on and the icons of
the batterie and the sound where gone. I checked the settings and the
checkmark saying "Show icon in system tray" was checked. The icons
only appeard when I restarted my computer (not always). Then my
CounterSpy icon dissapeared and now my AntiVir Icon also dissapeard!
Anybody know waht is going on and how can i make my icons appear
again??
Thanks,
Toti

(I have Windows XP pro SP2 in a Dell Inspiron 8600)

For sure you don't have "Hide inactive icons" checked in Control Panel
Taskbar?

Check the setting for the taskbar. There is one labeled "hide inactive
icons" If checked it will cause the problem your seeing.

Do a scan for viruses, trojans and other nasties.
