Hi,

I would go for Toshiba over Dell, not a Toshiba that only exists as a
budget model but one that's part of a range.

If you go for Dell there's no need to buy a three year warranty
straight away, I think you can buy it before the end of the first
year, they may even phone you up and offer it at a discount.

Best to check the Dell forums before the end of the first year, if
other people are having problems it may be best to pay for a couple of
years extra warranty.

FWIW I've had two Toshibas and a Dell, the Toshibas have been fine but
the DVD/CDRW on the Dell has just packed up after 18 months.

cheers,
Pete.

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a laptop in the next couple of weeks, I've got about £700
to spend, maybe a little more. I'd rather not go for a celeron but still
want a decent speed/spec machine. Best I've found so far seem to be either
PCW or Dabs. However due to reading various things about these supliers in
the past I'm a little reluctant and feel there are possibly better deals out
there.

So...anyone have any pointers or recommendations? All help greatly
appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Dave
