Solution to HP Error "Remove and Check Cartridges"
I had recently found myself in a similar situation. This is where a
bit of ingenuity comes in handy. The reason for the message is that their isn't contact between the printer and the cartridge. The only solution is to put something between the the latch and the front of the ink cartridge to force the cartridge all the way back to make contact with the connector in the back. I suggest a small piece of paper folded three or four times, try different thicknesses to see which works best. It might take a couple times but it'll work after that. So, remember the latch is poorly designed so the cartridge isn't pushed all the way back to make contact with the connector in the back so it doesn't work, its really a hardware problem not software or fault ink cartridge. |

There are a number of possible reasons for the message. What you suggest is possible, but forcing the cartridge farther back can cause its own set of problems - the dimple flex pads may be crushed, causing permanent damage to the printer. The best solution is to check the support page at http://www.hp.com for your printer and/or contact HP. - Bob Headrick |
