wrote in message ... Hi, on the config panel of my Mother Board Asus there is a flag on "Disable" Adapter". Have I enable it? Could you give me some info, please? Thanks I own a P5W DH Deluxe. I have read your paragraph above 6 times and I still do not know what you are asking. What "config panel" are you talking about? What do you mean by "a flag" What ""Disable" Adapter"" are you talking about? Are you in BIOS? - What section? What adapter? Do you own a manual -or- User Guide for this mobo? What page are you looking at? I can't help you if you can't be more specific. William |

Are you using the Asus software ? ftp://ftp.sanguine.net/pub/sahughes/...o_contents.pdf The other possibility, is the software could have come from RealTek perhaps. RTL8187L http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...wnl oads=true Maybe if you're using Wireless Zero Config, the function is disabled ? Paul I own a P5W DH Deluxe. I thank you If you are not using Wifi, then click the "disable" box. If the "disable" box won't work, some options are. 1) Remove the adapter physically. Check to see if there is a single screw and bracket, holding it in place. In this picture, mechanical support is near the connector end of the adapter. http://www.hardwarezone.com/img/data...M2N32_WIFI.jpg ( http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles...?cid=6&id=1925 ) 2) Enter the BIOS and go to "USB Configuration". Set "USB Function" to six ports. My assumption here, is that the Wifi Solo adapter is connected to USB78. If USB78 is disabled, the Wifi Solo adapter should disappear. 3) Remove the Wifi Solo software. Perhaps then it will stop working (as long as Windows Zero Config doesn't pick it up). 4) See if the device is in Device Manager, and disable it there. I don't have a Wifi Solo here, so I cannot verify that any of these work. But these are things I would try. Paul |

I thank you for your advice but ... I'd like to know if I don't go to
"USB Configuration" etc. etc. will I have some problems? If you are not using Wifi, then click the "disable" box. If the "disable" box won't work, some options are. 1) Remove the adapter physically. Paul Paul, I have the P5B Dlx WiFi, and was considering pulling the WiFi Solo module to get the extra USB2 ports. The problem is that the screw is from the back side of the MB, and I was not about to remove the board just for that, so I added a PCI USB2 card. Also, the WiFi has its own Enable/Disable setting in the BIOS under USB Function, but the P5W may be different. |

On the P5W there are two screws, one on the back of the motherboard and the second is accessible on the top of the motherboard at 90 degrees, but you can get to it if you remove all of your PCIe cards and attack it with a small enough screw driver. |
