Default Pentium 4 M - 2.50GHz always running sloooooow....

i notice that the processor in my laptop is always running way to slow
most of the time.

right now under the system properties, it show the processor currently
running at 142MHz! WTF?

compiling/running code under the Visual Studio IDE is all but
pointless anymore.

what might be the issue and how can i, if possible, make the M
processor run at a full 2.50GHz all the time?

thanks all....

You don't want to do that unless you never run on battery. You want full
speed under load and the slowest speed possible under light load.
Typically it takes a speed monitor about 250ms to start ramping the
speed, so if you don't see a change when you start a large compile the
chances are that something is tuned wrong in the speed setup.

Note: if this only happens on battery, check your BIOS and see if you
checked the "use low speed on battery" option (by whatever name) as that
will often save more than you want.

I will leave it to a Windows expert to help after you check the obvious
and tell us what speed control options you have.
