Default 9xx nVidia drivers vs 8xx

I've stayed with the 8xx nVidia driver because
it allows custom resolutions ... like 1280x800
in place of unreadable native 1680x1050. Very
few, if any, games will run at 1680x1050, but
nearly all will do fine at 1280x800. I tried a 9xx
driver, but it would not allow me to run coolbits
or set custom resolutions at all. Card is BFG
GF 7900 GTO. Has this changed, or is there
a new coolbits for the 9xx drivers now?
Also, the 9xx driver blocks HDTV resolutions
my ATI Theater Pro 550e tries to use. I have
no problems there with the 8xx driver. Why
did nVidia do this ?

I'm running 93.81 with my XFX 7800GT. Coolbits 2.0 and custom resolutions
are both fine in the Classic control panel (Coolbits didn't work properly
with 93.71).

Can't confirm that. Every game that supports widescreen resolutions
should work just fine in 1680x1050...
