Default ethernet driver for PHY chip only model

Hello.
I have recently bought a Compaq S4500NX model, and tried to install
Windows 2000 instead of bundled Home XP. However, there were many
problems with hardware drivers, particularly with ethernet card, vital
since I can download the rest of drivers through internet. Compaq
Specs says that my model has Realtek 8201BL network card, so I visited
their website.
What they said was that 8201x series does not require driver, because
it only consists of PHY chip, whatever that may be, but mine still
doesn't work, while Realtek obviously does not provide driver for
something that doesn't need one.

Please tell me what I need to do to resolve this matter.

Thank you.
