Default File allocation size for 250GB hdd?

I have a new drive that I am going to use for data storage on my Win2K
system: backup images of my home computers, DVD's, etc.

If I choose Default for the allocation size, I think that it is about 4k
units. Is this reasonable? What are the tradeoffs of using one size
versus another?

Thanks
Ken K
