2.5" HD mounting brackets for PCI slots?

Hi,

I have a spare 2.5" HD that I want to use with my desktop PC, but I'm
all out of drive bays. However, I do have a PCI slot free, so I'm
wonder if there are mounting brackets that will allow me to affix the
drive to where the PCI slot would be. My brief search with Google
only turned up the standard mounting bracket conversion kits.

I've never seen one. I briefly considered suggesting that you just
mount one on an old printed circuit board, cut down to fit into the
PCI slot but I'm not sure it would hold the weight.

Why not buy an external hard drive case instead ($15~$20)? I bought
one off eBay a couple of years ago. It was a simple case, open up
four screws and plug the 2.5" drive into it. Connects to any
PC/laptop via USB. If you have an older (much older) computer without
USB ports, you can use that PCI slot for a USB adapter.

Hi Julian, As far as I know there is no adaptor for PCI slot. I
haven't seen one in serveral years, but there is an adaptor to make a
2.5" drive compatible for standard IDE use. It is similar to the old
3.5" floppy to 5.5" bay adaptor. It fits in a 3.5" floppy bay and
provides a standard IDE cable and power connector. Search the
Interner. You should find one. Luck, Jim
