Default Mainborad Soltek Sl-75FRN2-L and AMD Athlon Xp2200+ processor

Hello,

I am having a problem with my Soltek Sl-75FRN2-L mainboard and my AMD
Athlon Xp2200+ processor.
The processor will only run at 1350Mhz though it supposed to be
running at 1800Mhz.

Do you know if the mainboard and the processor is compatible with each
other??

Best Regards
Magnus

Hi Magnus,

Clock speed is a function of Front Side Bus (FSB) speed x CPU
Multiplier. The default . The Soltek BIOS defaults the FSB to 100mHz
and the CPU multiplier for the XP2200+ to 13.5x. So 100 x 13.5 =
1350mHz.

To change this, go into BIOS Setup (press Delete on the POST boot
screen), then go to Advanced Chipset Features. Change the FSB
frequency from 100mHz to 133 mHz and save settings. On reboot, you
chould find your clock speed is now 133mHz x 13.5 = 1795.5Mhz (which
is close enough to 1800).

Of course you can overclock higher than this and there are several
great articles ont he newsgroups.

Also a good idea to make sure you've got the latest BIOS
(www.soltek.com.tw) nVidia drivers etc.

Cheers.
