Default ASUS Vintage-PE1

I just setup an Asus PE-1 barebones with an Intel P4 640 3.2 GH LGA775
processor; for my granddaughter.

The CPU temperature in bios appears to read 20-25 high. When first started
up, it reads 20-25 higher than the MB temperature. Both increase 8-10
degrees over time.

What would cause the bios CPU temperature to be incorrect? Is there any way
to correct it?
