Amtrak Fiasco
My local Amtrak depot is Enfield and they just don't seem to be able to
cope. I am in South Cambridgeshire (SG8 postcode though) and when they had a Stevenage depot things worked reasonably well. But no longer. On December 21st I ordered something from Micro Direct and all credit to them the item was dispatched same day and I paid a premium rate for overnight delivery. Parcel did not arrive next day and phone calls (hours!...) to Amtrak were exceedingly frustrating "item is with the driver". Having waited in all day Wednesday, then Thursday and finally Christmas Eve, the goods still did not arrive despite repeated assurances from the Amtrak depot that it was "with the driver and would definitely be delivered today". Incidentally, it still has not arrived. Yesterday I ordered a part from Simply and again paid a premium for overnight delivery. I did not realise it at the time but they dispatched it by Amtrak. Guess what? Still no delivery. Both Micro Direct and Simply worked hard to dispatch the goods as promised but they have been let down by Amtrak. Other items which I ordered from other companies who used Parcel force, Business Post and Citylink all arrived ok. Parcel Force should have delivered before 12:00 and actually turned up at 12:45 but he is a nice chap and being worked too hard so I can live with that slightly late delivery (even though it was expensive). Now I find myself boycotting suppliers who use Amtrak, it is just not worth continuing to be a victim. Les |

If it is going to hack off their customers they would be most interested. I imagine that Amtrak would not want to lose those contracts. -- Cheers, Guy ** Stress - the condition brought about by having to ** resist the temptation to beat the living daylights ** out of someone who richly deserves it. |

I had no idea that Stevenage postcodes go all the way to south cambs, and this is all being manged by a depot in north london!!! Its crazy, they need to hire more staff. |
