I would go with the Asus P4P800, if I were to replace my Intel D865GBF...
Not sure, but I think there is an 865PE version of this board for about $150 USD. - YanquiDawg stood up at show-n-tell, in , and said: Exclude Abit please.I think the 865PE with Hyperthreading and 800 FSB is what I need.Thanks.Dawg -- Strontium "It's no surprise, to me. Asus P4P800. $114 (US) at www.newegg.com. (I also see favorable mention of
Gigabyte, Microstar, Albatron, etc., but I have no direct experience with them.) If you need IEEE 1394 (Firewire) and/or parallel ATA RAID, go for the Deluxe version, for $132. The Asus P4C800-E Deluxe (875 "Canterwood" chipset) is popular now, but it's significantly more expensive ($180+ for the Deluxe). My own mainboard is the P4P800, non-Deluxe. Running a P4 2.6c at 13*250 (3.25 GHz), with generic Samsung PC3200 DDR, and the memory multiplier is set at 5:4. (My only addition to support the overclock is a Thermalright SLK-900U copper heatsink, which probably isn't needed.) Have fun. Bob Knowlden Address may be altered to avoid spam. I'm pretty sure the 865 PE chipset is the one with Dual channel and HT support?
Also need the ICH5 southbridge.Asus P4P800 looks good.Would also like SATA I've heard the 875 is a godd chipseyt but overpriced and is even in performance with rhe 865PE. It's all alot to keep in my head!!!.Thanks all,Dawg Asus P4P800. $114 (US) at www.newegg.com. Just don't get any motherboard made by Intel if you intend to overclock.

The specs are at www.asus.com.
The P4P800 has the ICH5R Southbridge, and support for two SATA drives. (I don't use them, but I believe that the latest version of the Intel Application Accelerator for the 865/875 chipsets supports RAID 0 or RAID 1 on the SATA drives - the original version was RAID 0 only.) The 865PE supports hyperthreading CPUs and dual channel DDR RAM. (I'm using both.) The 875 is supposed to give slightly better memory performance, due to Intel's PAT. Asus has a version of that for the 865, but it seems to be turned off with overclocking. I'm not sure that the P4P800 is the best 865PE board on the market, but I'm quite pleased with mine, especially considering its price. Bob Kn. "YanquiDawg" wrote in message ... I don't use PCI slots, any more...
If I recall, the board you are suggesting costs about $100 USD more....am I wrong? The P4P800 supports PAT at less than $150 USD. I'm not gonna pay $200++ for a motherboard. - Woger MKII @wogerbox.co.nz stood up at show-n-tell, in , and said: On Wed, 8 Oct 2003 18:46:49 -0500, "Strontium" wrote: I would go with the Asus P4P800, if I were to replace my Intel D865GBF... The Abit IS7-E is a way better MoBo 4 Phase PSU, full support of all the USB ports, Chipset Fan and you do not loose the PCI slot when using a larger 3D card.. I have good luck with gigabyte ga8ik1100 for $140 on www.monarchcomputer.com
the manual translation is rough but price was good and specs were good. I did do a lot of price/spec comparisons and while some of the asus seemed better they were priced out of my reach.
