Default CD Writing

Hi
im not sure if this is the right forum. I just bought a 52x cd writer, but
so far i can only write audio cd's at 4x. It comes up with the error "CAn
only write at 4x because the data source is too slow" Why is this? I can
write data and mp3 cd's at 40x. I have checked all the settings and cant see
anything wrong. If i only put one track on the cd it burns quickly (40x)

I am using Nero Express. I have 600mhz cyrix and 64 mgs of ram.

thanks

I would guess that during the speed tests, the system starts swapping
virtual memory due to having only 64MB ram. I could be wrong, but
think it'd be helpful to install more memory anyway if you'll be using
the system regularly.

Good call.If it's an older Cdrom drive as a source some can only read
audio at slower speeds even if their normal data speed read is higher.
In this case it's better to use the faster Cdr/w drive to do both
operations.

Ok!!!!!
Start Nero normally,not Express.
Choose to make an audio Cd compilation but again don't use the Wizard
but click the far left top icon. When the windows pops up choose the
Burn tab and try setting the speed you want?
It may have been set by Nero Express thinking it's doing the right job
for you.

Glad all is well. The add-on program that comes with Nero that is
supposed to set the correct speed is useless if that's the one you
mean?
Just use Nero manually as posted if you ever have problems
