Default UK source for good quality socket 7 sized fans

I want to replace the fans (not the HSF) on two socket 7 sized heat
sinks. The current fans are about 45mm diameter. Most fan suppliers
only have 60mm and 80mm parts (and tiny 40mm low flow parts).

The CPU's are AMD k6 2 at 300Mhz and Celeron at 300Mhz.

I could buy new HSF units and change the fans but I'm looking for
better quality parts than those found on most new HSF units.

Any ideas? Thanks.

www.overclockers.co.uk or www.theoverclockingstore.co.uk

You could also try Maplins.

Here's a question about that: how did you plug it in? Did it still have the same power connector as a CPU fan??

You might laugh, but this worked for me. I went and bought a 4"inch AC cooling fan from Radio Shack. I took off the side of my CPU case, and cut a hole in it, and mounted the fan. I took one of the drive bay covers off to allow for the increased air flow, and walla, you can actually feel a nice breeze coming from my computer. The 4" AC fan is whisper quiet, and keeps everything cool.

Here is all the specs if you have a Radio Shack near you to look at it.

120VAC 4" Fan

$22.99 Brand: RadioShack
Catalog #: 273-241 Model: 273-241
(Pricing and Availability may vary outside
the contiguous 48 United States.)

Provides powerful 65CFM (cubic feet per minute) airflow. Size: 4-11/16x4-11/16x1-1/2". 22 watts.

Just took an old plug cord I had saved, and spliced it right in and plugged
it in..

Try using a 50mm case fan.

Thanks for that. I located a Sunon 40mm unit with a flow rate of
8.9cfm at theoverclockingstore. I'm now trying to find out whether
that is enough flow to cool the cpus involved. I looked at some cooler
manufacturers web sites but since 300Mhz is long gone they didn't
help. Any ideas on that?

Best thing to do is to post a message with this question on one of the
overclocking ngs or the forums on either of those websites I mentioned. I
find the ngs better personally. Those guys know things about flow rates that
no 'normal' person should! :-)))

Try ebay.co.uk

or try maplin electronics.

Computer fairs are also a good source.
