Default Arctic Silver 5 vs Regular Silicone Compound?

Can anyone tell me if the Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound really performs
better than the standard Silicone Compound that came with my Arctic Cooling

Artic Silver vs. The Others has been discussed ad infinitum on this and
other groups.

If there's such a thing as consensus on Usenet, IMHO it is that a) yes,
AS usually performs better than generic compounds, by maybe 2-5 degrees
C, and b) given the other variables involved, in particular the
'flatness' of the mating surfaces and variations in user application
technique, the marginal improvement does not justify the price of AS.

Flame away :-)
