Message for Tony (and other gmail posters)

Hey, Tony,

I appreciate your contributions here very much. However, I can't see
them because I've blocked gmail altogether.

The reason is important. gmail is a newsgroup scourge: it's probably the
major source of spam on usenet. Google refuses to act responsibly about
this, and even to acknowledge spam complaints.

So much unwanted clutter comes into newsgroups from this source that
I've joined some others in simply blocking all gmail. This has helped a
lot on another group I use which has been severely impacted by spammers
and trolls. It's been worth losing good contributions in order to not
have to plow through the extensive crap as a frustrating daily exercise.

I don't know of any way for my news reader to "...block all gmail except
"Tony." It won't accept such rules.

So, Tony, I'm asking you again, please, to post from a different webmail
service.

I've found Care2 to be a good alternative for myself:
http://www.care2.com
Unlike gmail and GMX, Care2 is less rigid and fussy about how you
connect and filter their shenanigans.

Are you sure you don't mean Google Groups? I use gmail for email (not
newsgroups. I didn't even know you could use gmail for newsgroups.) all
the time, and AFAIK have had no problems.


By the way, I use motzarella.org and Thunderbird (Linux) to access
newsgroups, a free news service for non-binary groups.
