P4P800 Deluxe BIOS and 3.2GHz CPU
ASUS's web site states that you need BIOS 1005 for a 3.2GHz CPU. If
you buy a new P4P800 board and it has an earlier BIOS, will it recognize a 3.2 CPU as something, so that you can flash the latest BIOS? |

If the P4P800 behaves anything like all the other mobos I've owned, it will run the 3.2 Ghz P4 at 3.2 Ghz just fine no matter the BIOS version. However, the motherboard may report the installed CPU as a 3 Ghz P4 because that's the fastest CPU that that BIOS version knows about. |

Steve,
...ASUS's web site states that you need BIOS 1005 for a 3.2GHz CPU... I'll have two P4P800 Deluxe mobo and both of them ship with BIOS 1005... .... OTOH I update my mobo's with BIOS 1008 which is supposed to be more stable than 1005. -- Regards, michel cr |
