In the Home/Home Office Dimension category, Dell only offers the 2 bottom of
the barrel Core 2 Duos. WTF??

You could call a sales rep and see if they can configure a Dimension with
another processor in the same family, if preferred. Even these "bottom of
the barrel" Core2 Duos are outstanding processors; they've probably limited
CPU choices on the Dimension series in order to push their more expensive
XPS line, as most non-enthusiast home/business users would not appreciate
the cost/performance ratios of the high-end Core2 Duo/Extreme processors.
Assuming the motherboard used in the Dimension that you want has been
validated for the alternate processor and the power supply is up to the
task, there shouldn't be a problem.
