How install software from DVD to ultrabook?
Taking a look at my options since my XPS M1330 died,
I see these Dell ultrabooks: http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/xps-13-l321x-mlk/pd So how does one install software if the software comes on a CD or DVD? Is there a way to transfer digitally managed software (e.g. Windows, Visual Studio, Office, etc.) to USB thumb drive for installation? Or does one have to install it from some external optical drive or over ethernet from another computer? *TimDaniels* |

I "chatted" with Dell's sales rep, Meg_G, last night, and she said that software installations could be done via USB thumb drive. I asked if the contents of the DVD could just be dragged 'n dropped onto the thumb drive, and she replied "Yes". Does that sound right? *TimDaniels* |

Another option is to copy the DVD to a memory stick on another computer and install from there. 8gb will hold a DVD DL, 6GB will hold a standard DVD |

Very slick. An install across a network is OK, too, but slower. I keep a couple of USB DVD drives around, too... Ben Myers |

I used downloadable software for making an installation USB thumb drive for Ubuntu, and I figured there must be something similar for Windows. *TimDaniels* |
