firewire & usb2 HD box

Default firewire & usb2 HD box

the FireWire give up to 400Mbps(50MBps) and USB2 give 480Mbps
why i see that many external HD Box give Transfere rete
100Mbps-120Mbps?

The 400 and 480 are the physical layer speeds.

Protocol overheads and protocol stacks reduce that substantially.

what you heard about: Second generation 1394/IDE Bridge

i think that problam is in the first generation of Bridge, not in FireWire
or USB2.

you write about the protocol of USB2, but is not seen that cuse drop down
speed
more then 15%??

Nothing specific.

There's more than just one.

not in FireWire or USB2.


Those will still be worse than with a normal
IDE internal connection for the drive.

Correct. Clearly the much better thruput seen in the
benchmarks Tom did with the WD external drives proves
that USB2 and firewire protocol overheads isnt that bad.

But it is the reason that USB2 does a bit worse than firewire.
