"Printer driver was not installed. Operation could not be completed"
This follows on from my recent post about problems installing HP7310
drivers on Windows XP SP3. After some (fairly fruitless) conversations with HP support one of the things they suggested trying was to install the HP Deskjet 990C driver from Windows. So I tried this and the result when you click "Finish" in the Add Printer wizard is an pop up box saying:- Printer driver was not installed. Operation could not be completed I have Googled for this error message and have looked at lots of the resulting threads but none seems to help much. The MS Knowledgebase articles suggest that one is trying to install an old driver but since I'm trying to install MS's own drivers this seems unlikely. Help!!! Any ideas anyone? -- Chris Green |

"Printer driver was not installed. Operation could not be completed"
i couldn't install my oj 6310 in vista.
downloaded the software. did the hp email and online tech support with no help. i finally connected via both usb and network. the scanner part works through the usb connection. the printer is set up as oj 7210 and can be seen on the network. only problem i have is that vista will not go to sp1 because of the defecxtive printer installation. maybe if i am lucky winows 7 will resolve these problems. wrote in message ...
