Default no keyboard xp dell 3 yrs old

Hi,

A friend of a friend, etc., is having keyboard problems.
It's a Dell mini-tower from about 2002 running XP home.
The other day, the keyboard stopped working so he
bought a new keyboard yesterday, and it doesn't work either.
Both are PS2's.

Before I re-invent the wheel here, ha ha, can anyone
give me some ideas on what may have caused this?

My solution is to tell him to get a USB keyboard and
see what happens, but if there's an easy fix to get a normal
keyboard going again I'll tell him to do that.

Thanks for any ideas on this.

Mike

Loose keyboard connection?
keyboard cable damaged?

Blown fuse on the PS2 port?

I concur with your suggestion.
