I posted the original article from the Inquirer speculating about Intel
adopting AMD64. Frankly, bombarding stories about the same thing still won't
make it true. I do think Intel will adopt AMD64, but not with Prescott.
There will be a few more generations to come yet.

The article seems to imply that there is some compelling reason for
Intel to need 64-bit, x-86 compatible Windows. If there is such a
compelling reason, it isn't obvious to me.

Microsoft, on the other hand, which has been shipping demo copies of
Windows 2003 server with magazines aimed at linux applications
programmers, certainly *doesn't* want to be shut out of the Intel
server market.

The Inquirer editorial staff must get together and use some
intoxicating substance while they fantasize together about a world in
which Intel gets its comeuppance, somewhat like some usenet groups.
Don't hold your breath.
