XP2500 Barton or XP2600 Barton?
I was just about to buy a 2500 barton to replace my 2100 tbred when I
noticed a 2600 barton for not very much more. I know all about how the 2500 can overclock to 3200 speeds, but I know nothing about the 2600. Is it the same story (but maybe overclocking to XP3400 speeds?!) or are there issues with this chip. I have an abit nf7-s (v1.1.) and 3x256mb Twinmos PC3200. I currently run my XP2100 at 213x9 (1917mhz-ish) which is a nice FSB speed, but disappointing CPU speed (there are problems if I exceed 1950 at ANY fsb speed). Please reply quickly as the cheapest source of 2500s round my way are nearly out of stock. |

As long as you get a much better hatsink and and fan the stock one won't work. I would go with the 2500 and use the extra cash saved to buy a better heatsink. |
