Default Cable modem problem

I'm not to experienced with cable modems
so let me ask the group a ? I have a friend
who has a Motorola cablemodem feeding a Compaq desktop
directly through it's USB port which works fine(internet).
The ethernet port on the cable modem feeds a
Netgear 4 port hub/wireless access point. the wireless acces point
feeds a dell laptop which has internet connectivity and works fine.
Wired to the netgear hub is a Dell desktop w/XP home which suddenly
cannot acces the internet. I swapped all the cables, swapped the cable
on the ports of the hub.still no internet on the Dell desktop. This
friend loaded some Spy Nuker software because somebody told her to
(she was getting lots of pop ups). I removed it, but it did not solve
the problem. Any suggestions?

Hi Gary
Check out XP's built in Firewall - this could be the problem - or do you
have a different FW running i.e. Norton etc
HTH

Brian--
Checked using Norton Antivirus 2003
