How strong is the glass used in those beautiful computer chassis?
Imagine you put the chassis under your table. Can those glass panels take an accidental kick? Would they shatter? -- @~@ Remain silent! Drink, Blink, Stretch! Drop test. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T17lYoYlStg Side test. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiDE7iJH53E What you have to understand, is the side test worked, because of the "point contact" made by the rock. If you start a stress chip or stress crack, the glass will instantly "disintegrate" in response. Hitting the glass with smooth rounded objects (the tip of your shoe) won't break it. ******* This is also important, if you are rescuing someone from a car which is sinking into a lake. Punching the window with your fist won't work. But using a pointed rock, with a nice edge on it, stands a much better chance of breaking the window. You can also keep sharp objects like that, inside your car. If you're in an accident, and the door frame is distorted and won't open, you can exit through a window if you have a sharp object to use to punch out the glass. Example of a tool for breaking tempered glass (inside the car): https://www.top-gear.co.nz/ic/371212...0Support.1.jpg "Break out of your vehicle when seconds count! Safety Hammer Description: The Stainless Steel Hammer head easily breaks car side windows. The razor-sharp blade cuts swiftly through jammed seat belts " You cut the seat belt first, fall on your head, *then* you break out the glass and swim to the surface of the lake. The back of the hammer has a cutter blade for shredding the seat belt web. The tip of the hammer breaks the tempered glass. Paul |

How strong is the glass used in those beautiful computer chassis?
Interesting tip about saving people trapped in a windowed car. Are computer chassis using strong safety glass as used in vehicles? Would that kind of glass shatter safely? Or are they just normal glass which is DEADLY dangerous? How could a customer tell the grade of glass used in those computer chassis? You don't break glass to test them when buying a computer chassis! The best solution, is to keep you and your "busy feet" out of the computer room :-) Maybe a nice steel case will protect your goods. http://www.chenbro.com/en-global/pro...terprise/SR107 Next you'll be asking for a more sturdy brand of shoes, to be used to kick a SECC 1MM steel computer case. https://unionjackboots.com/vegan-146...r-martens.html Paul |
