Does anyone know where in the UK I can get a machine which makes
relaxing sounds such as the sound of waves, bird calls, running
water, and so on?

I figured Maplin might have something like this but my choice of
search-words on their web site finds nothing.

I don't know if you can get a machine as such, but from time to time I
seem to bump into CDs of the sort of stuff you're after. Whale calls
etc.
