How to avoid meeting delivery promises
As a supplier of computer stuff, if you do not want to live up to your promises of next day delivery, here's how to do it. Tell the buyer that their credit card order is "Awaiting authorisation". And leave it like that for several days. Of course, the buyer may not believe you, because they often spend much much more online with far larger bills, but you have your excuse. Then again, maybe the supplier, Lowestonweb, the only one, it seems, with stocks of Philips's 20-inch widescreen monitor, is itself so dodgy that it can't get a direct connection to the credit card companies.
