Do you have the latest Windows XP driver?

You must have your scanners serial number.
Germany has the up to date English drivers.
http://www.mustek.de/eng_/start_english.htm

Did you get the Warning screen about the driver is not signed?

If you see that warning, Click "Continue Anyway".
No harm will be done.

You must click Continue Anyway for the drivers to be installed. And to stay
on the hard drive.

The scanner's Twain files are at C:\Windows\Twain_32\Scannerfolder.

C:\Windows are hidden and system files, if you do not have Search and/or
Windows Explorer to show hidden and system files, you will not see them.

That makes sense.

The TWAIN is just a program interface. To actually scan and save images to
your hard drive you must have an image editor program.

BTW, there is a very good free Viewer and scanner interface.
