I am at my wits end with this FX5200. If I disable 1st and 2nd in Nview.
I
can watch video in a window on my desktop.

If I use any other setting I either get full screen video on my monitor
without a window or I get a window on the monitor. And a window on my Tv
with no video in it.

Or my monitor goes black while the video plays fullscreen on my TV.

Damm!!! My old ATI Radeon 7000 could do video in a window on my desktop
and
full screen on my TV. I could surf the net, play games etc all at the same
time.

What can't this brand new card do what an 3 or 4 year old card can do. Do
u
think Nvida will fix this problem? Wish I had of stuck with ATI when I
chose
to upgrade.

Hi Stan... What are you using to view your video?

I work at home (It`s a rest Home for the elderly) and have two fairly good
PCs. The one upstairs has a FX5900 and downstairs is a GF 4600Ti.

The PC upstairs is patched into the Homes video system. So I can
put a DVD on the PC upstairs and Start/Pause/Whatever the playback
by using "Radmin" ( A great Remote PC program like Laplink etc.)
on the PC downstairs so I dont have to keep running up and downstairs.

Doing it this way it`s essential that the playback shows on the TV
and on the monitor. Otherwise, when I remotely access the
PC thats playing the video you can`t see sod-all.

Anyway..sorry for the long explaination, hope it make some kind
of sense. What I`m getting round to is that PowerDVD4 does display
on the PC AND on the TV.

I briefly tried PowerDVD5 and found that it behaved in the way
you describe so I had to go back to PowerDVD4.

What may help it to NOT use hardware acceleration on the
playback software you use. I`ve a feeling that doing so puts
your video stream at the mercy of the drivers and Overlay
issues.

That`s the case with PDVD4 as selecting Hardware Acceleration
with that version also causes this single output phenomena

plays full screen on the monitor.

Sometimes if I use TVtool I can get video in a window and full screen on

reinstalling my Radeon 7000.

Stan!.. I have my card connected to a VCR in the same way.

If you use PowerDVD4 and Uncheck "Use Hardware Acceleration" in
the settings and then, in your Dispay PropertiesOverlay page select
"Disable"
you WILL* get video on your monitor and on the TV**
---
* at least I do
** as long as you have "Clone Display" selected on the NView page

Nope does not work for me. Have video in a window on desktop. Have video

I DO have the same with Media Player9 and PowerDVD5.

QUESTIONS
Can you confirm that you have actually tried PowerDVD4
in the way I explained in my earlier post?
Y/N

Have you applied the current Patch to PowerDVD from
Cyberlink?
Y/N

Have you Disabled Hardware Acceleration in PowerDVDs
Preferences?
Y/N

Have you selected "Clone Display" in the Nview page of
the Display Properties.
Y/N

Have you disabled Overlays in the Overlays page of
Dispaly Properties
Y/N

Do you have the latest Nvidia Display Drivers?
Y/N

If you answer Y to all of these then you may just as
well chuck your old radeon back in `cause I don`t
know what the F***s happening. All I can say is that
I have a FX5900 and had a Ti4600 before that both
on different Motherboards and it works OK for me.

I admit it could be a damn sight easier to use
and perhaps they`ll change it one day.

Hmm ... I'm using PowerDVD 4 XP with FX5200 and with TV out. The TV out
works just fine as I mostly use my desktop for other things while my
wife waches movies with powerdvd on the television. I have extended my
desktop to both monitor and TV and I just fire up powerdvd, put it to
play (in window mode) and drag it over to the TV. Works just fine. There
I can then put it to full screen and that works also fine (for some
reason it by default goes to a bigger virtual screen although the
desktop isn't that big, but selecting "Keep aspect ratio" from right
click menu each time it does so (wether it clears it or adds no matter)
fixes this problem).

Mario

PS! haven't used cloning as I'm mostly not using monitor and TV for the
same purpose. TV is for movies and monitor for work and gaming
