Default pioneer dvd-121 problem

I bought this dvd a few days ago...and it works like ****...dvd ripping is
very slow, cd reading also, and when i try to run Nero disk speed, it
crashes and restarts my pc!!!Few other guys reported the same problem, but
only under windows, under linux everything works just fine...!!!
Setup: jumpers, cables, dma mode, ev. ok!
MBO MSI K7N2 Delta L (nForce2 ultra)
barton2500@3200/400
2x256 ddr 400
cdrw teac 7900a (on the same cable as the dvd)
win XP pro SP1
latest nvidia Forceware (it didn't work with original drivers also)

Please help me...if possible...firmware,drivers...anything?
Thnx
