you want a noiseless computer.

you have 2 options.
* Silence the box
* Move the box (KVM Extender) so your keyboard mouse and monitor are
in one location, and your box is far away, and e.g past some closed
doors.

I think it's now possible to silence the box, or to try anyway. And I
mean noiseless. No fans. (though apparently that's not noiseless)!

You can buy a fanless power supplies and fanless cpu cooler.
The case and "cpu heatsink " may cool ok open air. I don't know.

Consider the low power cpu somebody mentioned, athlon mobile. I guess
you need to install a heatsink on it, I don't know.

(I did once have a VIA EPIA EDEN system with processor fixed in and a
passive(fanless) heatsink literally stuck on it. I never used it 'cos
transformers hummed on the power supply *card*! But now fanless power
supplies are available that might not hum, so times have changed)

hard drive will still make a noise though.

CD/DVD drive will make a noise, but that's not a nuisance 'cos it's
only as long as you are using it, which isn't usually so long. And you
can use a program like "Virtual Drive ". You still may need to boot
from CDs.. But if your BIOS allows it and you have the USB keys set
up, you may boot from USB.

Most monitors are silent. Unless you're really unlucky. I did have a
monitor that I thought made a noise.. but there was a setting to mute
the "volume", and then the hiss went.

it has been mentioned here that some MBRDs now have transformers that
hum / whine. You can google that, one thinks he can silence it with
JB Weld or something. And I see websites talking of devices that cure
it.

Even when you've got the box far away, you'll still hear mouse clicks
and fingers working on the keyboard. I hope that soudn doesn't bother
you.. You may be relieved to hear it!

I'd ilke a silent keyboard though!
