I was about to post a long rant about my experience with EMC7. Instead
of
doing that and breaking something valuable in my home, I'll be brief.
And I
was just trying to make a slide show.

It cost me $100, and I can't rotate slide images to the left? So the
ones I
need to rotate left must be rotated 3 times to the right? Do that about
35
times and you'll feel like throwing something through a window.

It cost me $100, and I can't easily move slides around on the story
board
without screwing things up?

It cost me $100, and it tells me AFTER making my production that it
won't
fit on a SVCD? So then, when I go back to simply delete a bunch of
slides to
make it fit on an SVCD, my production gets screwed up? I click on a
slide on
the story board, and the slide preceding the one I picked appears in the
preview window? I preview the slide show and discover that slides jump
around periodically in the show? Then, when I try to burn it to VCD
after
deleting all those slides, it tells me it still won't fit?

Did I mention I paid $100 for this program?

I posted a few days ago about how I accidentally bought EMC7 because I
got
my software companies mixed up. I thought EMC7 was the next revision of
Nero6. I thought I *was* buying Nero when I bought EMC7.

Doh!!!

BTW, I uninstalled EMC7 last night after it crashed my system when I
tried
the "Drag to Disc" CD burning tool. God. It can't even burn CDs without
problems

Did I mention I'm really, really, REALLY PO'd that I paid $100 for this
program?.

I installed the critter back in Feb 2004.
I got the product for two reasons:

1. At that time, I was stuck with using an old version of Ahead's EasyWrite
Reader as, at that time, the latest EWR would not support reading CD-RW in
my CD-ROM drive. EMC 7 has no such problem.

2. InCD was so unstable, I gave up. EMC 7's Drag2Disk was much better.

I have a multiboot system with EMC on my main system.
Nero/InCD on another, but I've not tried upgrading for several months,
perhaps, things have improved?

If you do get it, don't be careless and thoughtless.

Easy CD Cremator requires a complete system backup - even for updating:

Arrrrggghhhhhh

Of course, you made a complete system backup, haven't you? No?

How could you be so careless and thoughtless!

Mike Richter (Roxio Shill) spewed:

I have received an email from Roxio advising me to download an
update for my Roxio Platinum. Would you advise me to do this.

if you are going to update such software, have a complete
system backup first so you can restore to your current conditions
even if the update fails.

Is a backup essential even for an update of Easy CD Cremator?

I consider an image backup essential
before any major software installation

I suspect that those who have trouble are also careless
- perhaps thoughtless - about their use of their computer
systems.

Why any competent computer user would fail to 'buy'
such inexpensive insurance is beyond me.

Yes Mike, I agree, Roxio should post a very BIG warning:
Do not attempt to install ECDC 5 until you have made a full
system backup, removed the backup media and stored it at least
100 yards away from any ECDC 5 component including the box it
came in.

Yes, I imagine that's a habit folks who install Adaptec software
develop quite early in the learning curve

From: "Fishface"

Is that a representative of Roxio justifying software which
doesn't properly uninstall? Is it so difficult for them to do
that an attempt is made to defend their inability?

Backup? Hell, I'm considering installing it alone on a separate
installation on a separate partition on someone elses computer.
