I'd prolly opt for getting two 21" Samsung LCDs and put them side by side.
More total screenage than with that one 24". Check out http://www.monitorsdirect.com OK yeah I see there you can get a Samsung 21inch LCD for $1,057 each. Wow. Nice. My 17" cost more than that back when I got it a couple years ago. BTW I think Viewsonic has gone down hill and I would stay away from that brand if possible. |

Regardless of any NVIDIA or ATI partisanship one might own, the choice between a Radeon X800 XT PE and a 6800 Ultra will never be "6800 Ultra, hands down". Brad - do your own homework on whether to go the X800 XT or 6800U route. Personally, I would recommend the X800 XT PE for your dream rig, but don't take my word for it; read the reviews -- they spell it out pretty clearly. 9 out of 10 reviews place the X800 XT above the 6800U for various reasons. However, if all you care about it Doom3 then go with the 6800U. Let the flames begin... |

For $1200, it's actually price-competitive with 21" NEC flat-screen
