Default Best cooler?

Hi all,

I need a recommendation on a CPU cooler for my Intel 930. I have the stock
on currently, and when I'm gaming or doing some CPU intensive work, the fan
maxes out at 4300RPM, causing rather a lot of noise. Temperatures when the
fan is at full a

MoBo: 42C
CPU: 44C
Case: 26C
HDD: 48C

The Motherboard is an Asus P5LD2 Deluxe, the case is a Jeantech Neo (no
other fans) and the Hard Drive is a WD Raptor 150.

On my PSU (Thermaltake Silent PurePower 480) the fanspeed is auto adjusting,
with a manual over-ride. This sits at between 950 and 1300RPM, unless I set
it myself, in which case I put it at about 2600RPM.

With the above taken into consideration, what cooler would you guys
recommend for the CPU? I was debating over the Scythe Ninja fanless, but
from reading comments and reviews, it seems it's not best suited for high
speed and high temp CPU's. If I needed a cooler with a fan, I had the
ThermalTake Blue Orb II in mind, as well as the ThermalTake Big Typhoon.

What are your recommendations?

Cheers,

Neil

Zalman CPU fans are recommended over at Tom's Hardware.

The only thing that is putting me off the Blue Orb II is that for a 775
board, it is apparently required that you remove the Motherboard from the
case so that mounting screws can be inserted into the back of the
Motherboard. I am ideally looking for a cooler that doesn't require the
removal of the board, but still gives good cooling like the BOII is
suggested to.

As for the P5LD2-Deluxe, the only problem I had with it was the onboard
sound soon started to sound corrupt. It would sound as though it had blown
when listening to music through my headphones. I then bought a Creative
Audigy SE PCI card and after some driver trouble (The driver CD came snapped
in two!) I found the sound from it to be amazing. Gaming using my Logitech
Precision Headset paired to that card gives an awesome experience. Well
worth the £20 I bought it for. A sound card is the one extra I would
recommend you buy if you get that board.

Well, I bought it and fitted it at work, so I was in a PC repair
environment. As far as noise, it's amazing. The only thing that is
annoying is a small "rattle" it eminates, but is eliminated when I gently
touch the fan. Anyone else had this problem with the Thermaltake Blue Orb
II?
