DVD-RW system requirements?

Are there DVD-RW drives and software that will work well in such a machine, or is DVD data density inherently too much for slower processors? Most such drives I have seen in stores seem to specify at least 800 Mhz in the system requirements. I run a DVD-RW on my Windows 98FE with Nero v6 without hardly any problems. The main obstacle with any version of Win9X or ME is the 4GB file limit with the FAT32 system. If you run FAT32 in Win2K (not sure about XP) you will have the same probs. FAT32 can only recognize a total file size of just under 4GB, so if you are planning on burning full length DVDs you're going to have a problem on some of them. -- The Seabat |
