Default Wonder Remote & Windows Media Player

I am thinking of buying an ATI Remote Wonder. I would like to hear
from anyone that has one how useful he/she finds. I would also like to
know whether it can easily be used to control video files played in
windows media player. Can you pause/restart, for example, a file by
just pressing a button or do you have to install any plug-ins first?
How easy is it to find and install them? What if I use a different
media player? Can I use the Wonder Remote to control simple functions
of any media player, such as pausing the file or adjusting the volume?

Thank you very much for your assistance.
