Default Xonar DG / C-Media 8786/V100 DAC drivers

Got this $10 soundboard on an express American Express rebate for
another buck off ten at 5-10 days. Pretty good for normally $30-40 or
$80+ for a better board and their V200 Op Amp setup. All I wanted was
fiber-optic S/PDIF output into a Behringer UltraCurve Pro, anyway, so
it's ballpark for highend over what a MB chips off for sound.

There's the supplied ASUS drivers that come w/ the board, of course,
then there's this guy who wrote Unified Drivers, basically, ontop of
the ASUS GUI. What he's essentially added, apart from ASUS drivers,
appears to be dimensions for Dolby and 5.1/7.1 soundstage concepts.
With two sets of speakers I can only go so far with that stuff,
though, and use the amped headphone output and what I think ASUS calls
the stereo-jack "side channel" for a 4-speaker rear approximation.

Gets further into complications with a mixer and auxiliary processing
output paths from the EQ for A/B confidence, tape-loops & etc., but
that's neither here nor there.

After I installed the Unified Drivers I lost functionality of the mini-
out plugs, rear and headphones. I need to fix that as it might be
handy when occasionally working with others, mics and running through
a multitrack.

All three output jacks were working with S/PDIF with ASUS drivers, so
now it's S/PDIF optics only with the Unified setup. I'm thinking,
impressed by the Unified drivers, and they may be the better of the
two in terms of musicality, so here's to hoping it's going to be the
same 'ol driver conflict issue that's surfaced after doing a Winderz
uninstall of ASUS drivers. Too bad I locked in the ASUS drivers with
my last Ghost, could be I'll have to dig them out through re-
installing with a background monitor of components and registry
entries before going at the Unified drivers again.

Ever done, been through the Unified driver swap. . .ended up w/
"issues"?
