Default word doc files

I used roxio ver 9 to back up all documents, reformatted hd , and reinstalled
office 2003. All saved doc on cd look ok, file name, size ect. , All files
open with no problem but all the text has been changed to ooooooooooooooo's.
No errors given, no problems loading , ect . Just ooooooooo

Is there anything i can do\redo ?

Sounds like you're **** out of luck. Maybe UDF has bit you in the bum. The
way i see it you'd have to have rocks in your head to use roxio products.

I agree with Tony that you're probably SOL (back up, then *test* the backup
before destroying the original), and I also agree that Roxio crappy
software. A little research would have warned you away.
However, try this:
If you've been opening your restored .doc files by double-clicking on them,
try opening Word first, then opening the files from within Word. I've seen
some instances where problem files opened properly using the latter
technique.
