I upgraded the graphics card last year to a decent FX5900 with DVI, so I need a 19in monitor that had DVI (don't want to bother with VGA - DAC's are soo last year). Also play games, so want fast refresh. Can anyone recommend anything? Get my eye on the 19in BenQ or the Viewsonic, both of which claim 12ms response time. Anyone know of any others? Why not buy a top end 17" tft? nearly the same viewable area as a 19" crt (18" viewable). It will look way bigger than your existing 17" crt. Something like the Viewsonic VP171S Pro Series 17" LCD just over £300 ATM. That said, I've got me a 17" tft and could quite easily put up with a 19" in its place!! |

Most of the 19" tfts I have noticed have no where near as good specs as the 17" so check carefully. In fact I don't think I've seen an inexpensive one with a response time less than 25ms for instance. |

Checked with a Disti and trade price is about £270 |

My point exactly, mate, best off getting the best 17" for the same money you'd spend on a low end 19". Depends what his crimbonus is, but!! |

For £305+VAT I can get a 19in with 12ms, so why spend money on a 17in for £60 less??? Aye, but who makes it and does it come with a 'zero dead pixel' guarantee?? |

Time for Christmas bonus at work, so it's time to blow some of it, fancy a
19in TFT monitor to replace my aging 17in CRT. Cheers. -- "This dog don't give a feck..." http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=58425 TBH I think most major manufacturers TFT technology has improved to the point where ghosting hardly exists, I have a samtron (samsung) 73v 17" with a 25ms response time but never noticed any ghosting. Could be wrong though. |

Basically if it's a class 2 panel, it's a class 2 panel, ie no more than three dead pixels or five dead sub pixels. My Philips 170B5CS 17" screen does, that's why I chose it over the Viewsonic, same stats, but pipped at the post with this... No DVI unfortunatly/.. lol Now your really being picky, I thought it was widely held that there isn't much difference? I suppose if I had the money I would go for DVI, although it seems you can't get one with under 25ms and DVI cheap. |
