prebuilt "quiet" computers?
Hi,
A friend is interested in buying a budget PC (just for web surfing, maybe a bit of limited home movie editing). He's expressed interest in getting something quiet, though - does anyone know of any (reliable, naturally!) dealers who can build a machine using things like silent PSUs, quieter CPU fans and the like? Otherwise I'll probably just send him to dell / mesh or wherever for their cheap box of the month and offer to upgrade him to quieter components myself later if he finds the noise offensive... Cheers, Tim. |

Not quite sure what you mean by "budget". Silent PCs don't often come cheap, unless they are relatively low power by today's standards. However, take a look at http://www.mini-itx.com/store/ They sell ready built silent system units by Hush and Tranquil Loz |

The CPU fan gets audible when I start pushing it hard, but I can live with it. Unlike my home Medion 3.6 P IV which sounds like a tonado when its going some (then again the fan is huge and had a big FOAD section of drain pipe running in from the case). -- Gamma gamma gamma chameleon You come and glow, you come and glow. Fujitsu Siemens kit is very quiet - dabs had an amazing offer for a celly 2.8Ghz system the other week for £229+VAT - I bought about 5 of them for an office job I was doing - You cant hear them. Jason Russell Dotcom Computers Ltd Yes, anything with the Siemens name is good quality. I work sometimes on a Fujitsu Siemens Scenic; very quiet. |
