USB Devices
I have a Dell Inspiron 9100. This has four USB 2.0 ports.
The problem I have is that when plugging in a USB device(USB - serial, printer, mouse, etc.) the device installation appears to be port specific. When the device is plugged into a port other than the one which triggered the original installation a new installation starts. For example when plugging a usb - serial cable into port 1 COM 9 is created - fine, however when plugging the same cable into port 2 COM10 is created - not fine, as serial hardware needs to know the COM port number. Does anybody have a solution to this please. TIA Martin |

I have the same problem with my l'espion digital (keyring camera) and
my Lexmark Z42 printer. They both re-install in put into different USB ports. Very anoying. I have you to find a solution except ensuring you put them back in the same socket. Tarl |
