Default Help with USB

I currently have an Asus P4T533 M/B with 2 USB ports (Intel controlled) on board. It has a 1.3 P4
CPU and is running Win2K Pro, SP 4.
I'm trying to install a H/P PSC 950xi All-in-One Printer/Scaner/Copier/Fax through one of the USB
ports.

I've yet to use a USB port.
My question is:
Why? Printers are usually connected to a Parallel (Printer) port.

Can you help me understand quicker?
I'm using an HP OfficeJet (no scanner) on my printer port.
It needs to buffer pages to print them, at it's own speed.

A parallel port is restricted to 300kbit/second transfer rate.
USB is 120MBit.

no.
Enhanced Parallel Port can use upp to 2 Mbit (EPP).

USB is 1.5 Mbit or 12 Mbit or 480 Mbit.

Or even..

Whoa!! That's up in the coax cable region, isnt it.

OK.
So, the CPU can dump stuff to the printer faster,
and it handles the scanner too.
Even better than my (plain jane) SCSI port?
Sounds good.
